Cancer in Functional and
Integrative Medicine

Cancer takes years to show up on an imaging exam. ENOX2, a protein that disappears from the normal adult cell and reappears in cancer, was detected in the blood 4 to 10 years before diagnosis in mesothelioma. This e-book starts from that window and delivers what to do in it: the protocols to inhibit ENOX2, the GKI-guided ketogenic diet and nutraceuticals with dose, evidence and interactions with chemotherapy and radiotherapy, always as adjuncts.

  • ENOX2: early detection and inhibition protocols
  • Metabolic therapy: GKI-guided ketosis, insulin and mTOR
  • Nutraceuticals, herbal medicines and drugs with dose and evidence

What almost no one tells you
about cancer, diet and supplements.

In groups and in clinics, integrative oncology often turns into a list of supplements and a carb-free diet. These are six points the e-book takes apart, each with the evidence label for what is claimed and the module where the topic is covered in detail.

  • 01Module 12

"Cancer begins when it shows up on an exam"

It does not. According to Morré and Morré, fewer than 20% of cancers are diagnosed at a localized stage. ENOX2, a protein on the surface of the neoplastic cell that is shed into the blood, opens another window: the e-book shows the ONCOblot, the tissue of origin each pattern points to and the studies with the National Cancer Institute serum panels.

  • 02Module 12

"A ketogenic diet is just cutting carbs"

Without measuring, there is no way to know whether the diet has reached the therapeutic zone. What counts is the GKI, the ratio between glucose and ketones in the blood, with a target of 2.0 or less: in the e-book's protocols, a ketogenic diet without GKI measurement is not considered treatment. And urine strips are not suitable for the calculation.

  • 03Module 12

"Green tea against cancer means EGCG capsules"

The only regimen with a published outcome in humans used decaffeinated green tea powder with Capsicum powder, in a 25:1 ratio, several times a day, including at night. And concentrated EGCG above 800 mg a day is associated with increased transaminases.

  • 04Module 6

    "Antioxidants always protect the patient"

For Felippe Jr., in established cancer, antioxidants used as medication protect the tumor cell and reduce the efficacy of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. CFM Resolution No. 2.004/2012, from Brazil's Federal Council of Medicine, prohibits antioxidants that interfere with these treatments. The e-book shows what to review and the exceptions the book itself allows.

  • 05Modules 6 and 7

"Whey, glutamine and tryptophan help with recovery"

The author of the reference work contraindicates all three in the cancer patient: whey because it is a glutathione precursor and raises insulin and IGF-1, glutamine because "glutamine is not given to cancer patients" and tryptophan, "formally contraindicated in gliomas".

  • 06Module 16

"Routine medications do not interfere with cancer"

For Felippe Jr., drugs that are "apparently harmless and routinely prescribed" can be very harmful to the cancer patient, from calcium channel blockers to anxiolytics. And there are practical interactions: "Do not use paroxetine together with tamoxifen, as it decreases the latter's effects".

The e-book does not replace cancer treatment or the assessment of each patient. Everything it describes is integrative and adjuvant, carried out together with the oncologist, and it separates what has studies behind it from what is the author's opinion.

The window for intervention

For the author of this ebook, conventional detection comes too late and takes away the patient's chance of early treatment. A marker that identifies the tumor years before symptoms makes it possible to act when the tumor burden is minimal, with low-toxicity interventions [AE].

Part 4 · module 12

ENOX2: early detection and inhibition protocols

The protein that sets the neoplastic cell apart from the normal one, and what to do when it shows up.

  • Why inhibition is selective: ENOX2 is absent from the normal adult cell, and continuous blockade for 48 to 72 hours drives the neoplastic cell into apoptosis
  • The ONCOblot: each cancer's pattern in the blood, the tissue of origin and the detection limit, a tumor of about 0.8 mm
  • The Capsol-T trial: of the 32 positive participants who repeated the test, 30 turned ONCOblot-negative [CT]
  • Protocols A to E: Capsol-T as in the study, the compounded formula, the approach for those who remain positive and the high dose with transaminase monitoring
  • The management flowchart, the baseline tests and the interactions, such as green tea with bortezomib

Modules 1, 2, 5, 12 and 14

Metabolic therapy: GKI-guided ketosis, insulin and mTOR

The diet acts on the terrain that feeds the tumor, and the GKI shows whether it is working.

  • Seyfried's metabolic theory of cancer and the press-pulse strategy
  • The GKI: the formula, the therapeutic ranges and how to measure it in capillary blood, with AnameLab's GKI and HOMA-2 calculators
  • The GKI-guided ketogenic protocol: carbohydrates, ratio, protein, MCT, fasting and monitoring
  • Insulin and mTOR: HOMA, the fasting insulin target of 5 to 6 mU/mL and what stimulates mTOR in the tumor
  • When not to induce ketosis, and Felippe Jr.'s smart diet with phases, targets, menu, recipes and the Budwig diet

Nutraceuticals, herbal medicines and drugs with dose and evidence

Every agent in the same template: mechanism, evidence, dose, contraindications and interactions.

  • Nutrients and bioactive compounds: omega-3, melatonin, vitamin D, curcumin, green tea, sulforaphane and fucoidan, among others
  • Herbal medicines, from Boswellia to Reishi, and the antimicrobial plants in the author's strategy
  • Repurposed drugs: metformin, DCA, low-dose naltrexone, mebendazole, cimetidine, ivermectin and fenbendazole
  • The formulas from ch. 127 of the reference work, with components, dosage and the doses that call for special caution
  • Common drugs to avoid, the chart of interactions with chemotherapy and radiotherapy and the molecular map that cross-references each tumor pathway with the agents

Written for those who prescribe and for those going through treatment.

The e-book is intended for health professionals, but patients and caregivers can also buy it. The professional finds the dose, the evidence and the interactions of each strategy; patients and those who care for them understand what is being proposed and arrive at the appointment knowing what to ask the oncologist.

Health professionals

Who work in integrative oncology, within the scope of their legal competencies, and need the dose, the evidence and the interactions of each adjuvant strategy.

  • The protocols to inhibit ENOX2, with composition, dosage, monitoring and the management flowchart
  • GKI-guided ketosis, HOMA and the insulin and IGF-I targets
  • Monographs with dose, route, contraindications and timing relative to chemotherapy and radiotherapy
  • Common drugs to avoid, the consolidated interactions and the checklist before starting any protocol

Patients and caregivers

Who wish to understand integrative strategies and discuss them with the team caring for them.

  • What ENOX2 is and what the ONCOblot shows, so you can bring the question to your appointment
  • Why the ketogenic diet needs measurement and supervision, and when it should not be done
  • Why antioxidant supplements, whey and glutamine call for a conversation with the oncologist before use
  • The frequently asked questions in module 20 and the glossary, which explains each abbreviation in plain language

Intended for health professionals. For patients and caregivers, the e-book is a way to understand integrative strategies: it is not a prescription, it does not replace a consultation with a licensed professional, and no cancer treatment or current medication should be stopped or changed on your own.
